“Heard ya saY”
a new single from
No Stupid Questions
Friday, Sept 5th
Have you heard an indie rock banger in a 7/8 time signature?
Fresh off headlining New York City staples such as the Bowery Ballroom, Mercury Lounge, and Baby’s All Right, No Stupid Questions (NSQ) is bringing their chaotic, fun energy to “Heard Ya Say”… a sun-soaked anthem dripping with summer nostalgia, like a beach-party fever dream.
This single kicks off a new era for NSQ… more music for the outsiders, the weirdos, and anyone unafraid to ask the so-called stupid questions.
About “Heard ya saY”
“Heard Ya Say” began with a riff; a sharp, Strokes-like guitar line made stranger and catchier by its 7/8 timing. Rising in the New York City rock scene, No Stupid Questions is influenced by NYC icons including The Strokes, LCD Soundsystem, and Vampire Weekend… but they’ve built their name on taking left turns and keeping things unexpected. NSQ aims to zag where others zig.
Lyrically, “Heard Ya Say” captures a classic 20-something dilemma: two people out of sync on timing. At the same time, the lyric nods to a modern ritual; posting your partner on your timeline is what makes a relationship official. The commentary is simple: you don’t have me on your timeline, both digitally and literally.
As the song unfolds, it becomes clear that the narrator remains “wasted on the feeling” of a relationship they can’t quite let go of.
Saturday, September 6th, NSQ will be celebrating the release of their new single, “Heard Ya Say.” This single marks the start of a second chapter FOR No Stupid Questions as they gear up for the release of their new Project.

About No Stupid Questions

No Stupid Questions was formed in 2022 when lead singer Brian Cropp met guitarist/producer Jake Baynum. Jake brought aboard bassist Adam Keltz and founding drummer Kevin Soclow from their previous band “Broadly Speaking.” Jake mixes and arranges NSQ’s music while Brian leads the songwriting and art direction.
In 2024, NSQ released their debut album No Right Answers while steadily building a following in New York City starting with gigs at Pianos and eventually headlining Bowery Ballroom. Their rise among NYC’s rock acts has been fueled by the post-pandemic surge of the DIY indie scene, where they’ve carved out their own space with high-energy shows and a growing community around their music.
NSQ’s debut record takes you for a alt-country ride with moments of raw grit rock n’ roll on “You Can’t Stop the Rain” (akin to The Black Keys, or Cage The Elephant) before you’re hit with an electrifying pulse of high-energy indie on “Out On a Wire” (think Flipturn, The Moss). Things take a turn up on “Shotgun,” while laced with jam-band energy (maybe Zac Bryan meets Grateful Dead), and the ride closes out with introspective singer-songwriter moments on “All of Your Friends” (Medium Build, Dawes).
In 2025, No Stupid Questions began taking their sound beyond New York; playing shows at colleges down the East Coast and headlining a date all the way out west at Barboza in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.
While NSQ continues to make it up along the way, their second project marks a new level of growth in songwriting, in their sound, and in their production. The band welcomed Raffi Kriegl on drums, adding fresh energy and more layered vocal harmonies. Their latest single “Heard Ya Say” was mixed by Jake, with support from New York–based producers Sean Voelk and Alex Poeppel.
Included in the rollout of “Heard Ya Say” will be a Music Video coming September 12
